Creating iconic outfits to last… From Boudoir to days out
Outfits and wardrobes is something that we spend a lot of time talking through with our clients… Besides the classic lingerie sets of bras and pants it seems a few think investing in themselves, and their wardrobe, a waste of time and/or money. This saddens me - it’s a part of self care and by investing the time in yourself, you are looking after you, too! So, with this in mind, I thought I’d put together a few outfit ideas that allows you to treat yourself for your #BBBY experience and also feel able to wear a few of those pieces on evenings out, as the lockdown restrictions continue to lift.
It’s time to press “refresh” this April
“Even my clothing style has changed and the colours (and sizing) has got bigger and bolder than I have ever dared, before… Isn’t this what Being Bold and Being You is about, though? Having an environment to feel able to express who you really want to be?”
“We have all been through something new, in the last 12-24 months. I hope that lockdown has given you the tools, processes and confidence to hit the refresh button as we move forward with covid-19, vaccines and a new normality but what I hope, more than ever, is that you feel able to be you… Don’t slump into the old way. Old habits. The past. Embrace the teachings of the last year and create that time for you. Express yourself and wear that expression with absolute pride and confidence. Who knows, perhaps it’ll be your turn for a Be Bold Be You Experience, very, very soon.”
I’ve offended Facebook
The issue, I feel we have here, is a lack of education. Boudoir photography is so much more than taking your kit off. Hell, we have an entire shop based shelf dedicated to what would have been referred to as “page 3”back in the day - My local co-op down in Belper still has those shelves - as does my corner shop and the supermarket in Derby! Would these be referred to as Boudoir now? I can guarantee it wouldn’t within our industry and I would place a rather large bet that general public would feel there is a difference too, just by looking at the imagery.
February = self appreciation time
“It feels good to be able to say, and I hope client’s won’t mind me divulging this, that everyone is having to find a new way of coping with our “new normal” and covid-19. Some days are better than others, for us all, however I am yet to speak to one single person who feels they have got a grip on this new way of living, thanks to the pandemic, and are confident in their coping strategy, going from day to day.”
